Review: United Club at LAX Terminal 7 (Star Alliance Gold Access)

I recently flew from Los Angeles (LAX) to Vancouver with Air Canada. Before the flight, I had the chance to visit the United Club, the United Airlines lounge located in Terminal 7, using my Star Alliance Gold status (SFC by ANA). Here is my review of the experience.

Lounge Overview

First, let’s look at the layout of the airport.

LAX divides its terminals by airline and destination. Terminals 1 through 8 primarily host U.S. domestic carriers plus partners like Air Canada and Aeromexico. All other non-North American international airlines are clustered in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B).

While Terminals 1–8 are mainly for U.S. airlines, both domestic and international flights depart from the same terminal. For example, if you are flying United, you will depart from Terminal 7 or 8 whether your destination is New York or Tokyo.

Airlines also seem to be grouped by alliance: Air Canada is in Terminal 6, United is in Terminal 7/8, and Delta/Aeromexico are in Terminal 3.

For this trip, I was flying Air Canada to Vancouver, departing from Terminal 6. Since the United Club is in Terminal 7 and the terminals are connected airside (post-security) by walkways, I decided to walk over.

(Unfortunately, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Terminal 6 was closed at the time of my visit in 2024.)

Basic Information

For the most up-to-date info, I recommend checking the United website or the Star Alliance Lounge Finder. Here is a quick summary:

LAX United Club

Location: Terminal 7, next to Gate 71A
Hours: 4:30 AM – 11:45 PM

Getting to the Lounge

As mentioned, the lounge is right next to Gate 71A in Terminal 7. Simply follow the overhead signs for Gate 71A, and you can’t miss it.

You can see the lounge entrance right alongside the gate 71A.

This is the reception area. You’ll show your boarding pass here to enter.

Inside the Lounge

Let’s take a look inside. The main lounge area is located one floor up, so you’ll  take the escalator.

The area right at the top of the escalator offers a great view of the United fleet parked outside.

This is the view from the entrance. The lounge has a long, linear layout that stretches deep into the building.

As you walk further back, you’ll find the bar counter and the buffet area.

Dining

I didn’t snap many photos from the dining area, but here is a glimpse of the dining options.

There was fresh fruit and a yogurt bar in the back.

Various breads and a salad bar.

Although I missed the photo, they also had pre-made sandwiches and other snacks. It’s more than enough to satisfy your hunger before a flight.

Drinks

For drinks, you have two options: the self-service machines in the dining area or ordering from the bar across from the buffet.

This is the drink station and coffee maker at the edge of the dining room. As a big fan of Dr. Pepper, I was thrilled to see it on tap! (Major bonus points for me!)

At the bar counter, you can order a variety of drinks, including alcoholic beverages.

Summary

That concludes my review of the United Club at LAX.

As one of United’s major hubs, the lounge is spacious and well-equipped. If you have the chance to visit, it’s definitely a solid place to relax before your flight.

Safe travels, and thanks for reading!
